Material Compatibility

Advancell microspheres are cost-effective and lightweight, and they have a wide compatibility range. When combined with the base materials below, these thermoplastics create unique new materials and products for an array of uses and fields.

Applications include building materials, automobiles, lifestyle/daily goods and specialty items (such as expansion ink, thermal paper and paint).

PVC

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the most common base materials in shoe soles, roofing materials, plumbing materials, wallpapers and lifestyle/daily goods.

You can apply Advancell to PVC to produce an array of valuable features. In fact, Advancell’s high compatibility with PVC ensures stability in the application’s properties and provides flexibility in the processing temperature.

Recommended Grades: EM306, EM403, EM406

EPDM

Ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) is a widespread elastomer known for its durability, insulation and processability.

Manufacturers use it in a variety of automotive parts, such as sealings, gaskets and O-rings. Creating lightweight EPDM-based parts is challenging, but Advancell continues to be the best choice for many processors due to its easy compatibility with EPDM.

Recommended Grades: EML101, EM306, Master Batch Grades, Development Grades

TPV

Thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) is an elastomer form that has been vulcanized using the compounding process. Compared to common rubber-based materials, TPV has better flexibility and durability in many applications.

You can apply Advancell to reduce weight for TPV-based materials. Additionally, manufacturers are considering TPV for a sealing material in the automotive industry — one of Advancell’s focus segments.

Recommended Grades: EM501, EM504, Master Batch Grades, Development Grades

PP

Polypropylene (PP) is a rigid, crystalline thermoplastic commonly found in everyday objects, like packaging trays, household products, battery cases and medical devices.

Maintaining durability is key for additional materials in PP-based applications. Advancell maintains durability with its lightweight nature and density adjustments.

Recommended Grades: EM501, EM504
